Namibia: Mwaala Publishes Poems Anthology

27 August 2014

Windhoek — A 21-year-old author, Ella Mwaala, has finally achieved her long time dreams of publishing her first ever poetry compilation tilted Whispers of the sands.

The compilation consists of various poems of love, violence and poverty. The title of her new book has been inspired by the Namib Desert and the dunes the coastal dunes. "During the east wind, when the wind kisses the sands, whispers like sounds, are some of the few quotes in one of my poetry," she says. She adds that the idea of writing the anthology came when she met Kennedy Madhombiro, the owner of the UK-based Diaspora Publishers. "Madhombiro saw the potential in me and what I usually write on Facebook and he said to me 'I think you are a good writer and you can put it to a good use'. I wrote a few poems and he was amazed. He gave me a green light to publish my book and my dreams are now coming true," Mwaala explains.
