Eritrea: Commendable Outcome Being Registered in Southern Region As Regards Control of Communicable Diseases

Mendefera — The Administration of the Health Ministry's branch in the Southern region indicated that commendable outcome is being registered as regards controlling communicable diseases through joint effort with stakeholders. The remark was made at a meeting in Mendefera town, during which Mr. Yemane Haile, head of the branch office, stated that significant achievements could be registered in controlling disease infection on time through higher collaboration with stakeholders. He further called on government bodies in general and local administrations in particular to organize promotional activities so as to raise community awareness pertaining to the diseases.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Laine Ogbazgi, in charge of follow-up of communicable diseases at the branch office, explained that promotional activities focusing on students and other sections of the population inhabitants have resulted in the reduction of diseases, especially that of malaria. He also indicated that immunization service has been carried out in different sub-zones targeting diseases transmitted from animals to human beings.
