Bullet for bullet is a fair strategy to deal with terrorism. But on its own it is an ineffective reaction to this hydra-headed challenge. The war against al Shabaab copycats could get vicious.
The conflict could get cyclical if it does not go beyond mass arrests, mass vetting, 'digitialised' registration of citizens at Sh8 billion, and mass renditions. The intention is good, but the strategy is narrow. There is a likely mutation of the incidents of terrorism into a national crisis beyond Mombasa, North-Eastern, and Eastleigh.
